The V Satellite - Geelong Transitional Accommodation Project

Vasey RSL Care is committed to its Vision, Mission, Purpose and Promises.

Our Purpose: providing and advocating for safe and inclusive care, accommodation and support services for veterans, their families and the broader community

The V Satellite at Geelong will deliver a purpose-built, two-storey building: it will offer self-contained one-bedroom apartments along with a communal space on the ground floor to support connection and wellbeing.

The V Satellite at Geelong

Vasey RSL Care has secured funding through the Federal Government’s Veteran Acute Housing Program to develop new transitional housing at our Bell Park site.

The Geelong V Satellite will provide transitional housing in self-contained one-bedroom apartments, offering safe and affordable accommodation for veterans who are at a transitional point in their lives—whether they are leaving the Defence Force, securing long-term housing, or navigating other life changes.

“This project represents an important step forward in strengthening support for our veteran community,” says Janna Voloshin, Chief Executive Officer. “It will provide much-needed transitional housing and associated services.”

The V Satellite model is based loosely on the V Centre Veteran Empowerment Program in Ivanhoe, offering veteran-specific accommodation and through our Veteran Housing & Support Officers, linking in to local services to provide relevant additional services.

Government Support

The Veterans’ Acute Housing Program provides $30 million in targeted funding to increase crisis and transitional housing stock and fund specialist services for veterans experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness.

This initiative is funded through the Australian Government’s $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) which aims to support 30,000 dwellings in social and affordable housing over the next five years.

Vasey RSL Care CEO Janna Voloshin said the funding was an important step forward in addressing the urgent housing needs of veterans:

“This funding allows us to expand our support for veterans in the transitional phase of their lives, providing not only safe accommodation but also the essential services they need to rebuild their lives. The V Satellite will create a critical pathway for veterans to access long-term housing and support.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Corio, The Hon Richard Marles MP, commended Vasey RSL Care for its commitment to supporting veterans:

“This investment ensures that those who have served our country receive the support they deserve. The V Satellite will provide veterans in our region with a place to stay and access to specialist care to help them transition to stable, long-term housing.”
