“Today, on International Women’s Day, I find myself reflecting on the incredible women who surround me. From the resilient and caring nurses and care staff at Vasey RSL Care who exhibit such strength and commitment to our community, to the inspiring, smart and compassionate professionals, each woman in my circle, including my family and friends, plays a vital role as a supportive matriarch and caring soul.

“But this day holds a special significance as this year we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Vasey RSL Care. It’s a year to honour and acknowledge our founder, Jessie Mary Vasey OBE CBE, a woman who was driven by her responsibility to her community of war widows. These remarkable women supported each other through the toughest times, raising their children with resilience and courage. Mrs Vasey’s advocacy and strategic approach laid the foundation for what we do today – providing accommodation and support to the men and women who served our country.

“On this 8 March, I am filled with pride and admiration for Mrs Vasey, and all the women who continue to inspire us with their strength, wisdom, passion and dedication. Let’s celebrate these amazing women today and every day.”
