Vasey RSL Care provides over 300 rental properties specifically for veterans, partners and dependants.
Units and apartments at locations across Melbourne and regional Victoria
Our Housing for Veterans and Families, or Ex-Service Accommodation (ESA), is solely for the veteran community, creating an environment for those who have shared the experience of serving their nation, and their immediate family members. Rental charges are well below comparable private rentals and offer greater lease security. Buildings and grounds are maintained by Vasey RSL Care.
You will be welcomed into a community environment among those with similar values and experiences. Some sites have a community hall and residents arrange social activities. Our Veteran Housing Team offer support if required, and can connect you to appropriate services or supports.

Eligibility Criteria
The V Centre Veteran Empowerment Program:
- Open to veterans only
Veteran Rental Housing (Ex-Service Accommodation):
Open to ex-service personnel and widows/widowers who meet the following criteria:
- Meet veteran status requirements
- Are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Do not own property
- Are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Note: you will be required to provide service documentation for you or your partner/spouse to confirm eligibility in order for your enquiry to be processed. Please have these ready to upload. The following documentation is required:
At least one:
- Service Record
- Certificate of Service
- Certificate of Discharge
And at least one of these:
- DVA White Card
- DVA Gold Card
And if applicable:
- Change of name certificate
- Marriage certificate

Welcoming New Residents
Our Veteran Services Team visit all new residents to make sure they are settling in well and that they all the information they need.
Encouraging Residents to Meet Others
Many of the ex-service accommodation locations have active groups of residents who organise activities and events.
Our staff will help you connect to others and join in the activities you enjoy, or meet some neighbours.
Community events
Our staff arrange various activities for residents – these include meetings with the Vasey RSL Care team, the occasional morning tea or a speaker, activities for Veterans’ Health Week and a Christmas gathering at most sites – depending on the size and location of the site.

Our team can provide support for residents when needed: we will help you arrange services and put you in touch with veteran-friendly service providers if required.
