‘Social Connection’ Theme for 2016
Veterans’ Health Week, organised by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA), takes place from 22 to 30 October and is an opportunity for veterans, war widows, widowers, current and ex-Australian Defence Force members and their families to participate, connect and influence the health and wellbeing of themselves and their friends.
Vasey RSL Care has partnered with the DVA to put on a whole range of events to promote health and wellbeing, under this year’s theme, ‘Social Connection’.
Events Across Melbourne
Our events will be taking place at multiple locations from 24 to 28 October:
“This is the second year that we have been involved in Veterans’ Health Week,” says Janna Voloshin, Vasey RSL Care CEO. “We sent a questionnaire to the residents in our Independent Living Units to find out which of last year’s events they enjoyed most and what they would like to learn about, so this year’s program has been informed by what they told us.”
Events are FREE
The events are completely free of charge to all veterans and war widows/widowers who live at our Independent Living Villages across Melbourne, and we extend an invitation to veterans and war widows/widowers living around these locations to join us.
“In particular, we would like to extend an invitation to members of the War Widows Guild, Legacy, local RSLs and DVA Day Clubs to attend these events, and enjoy meeting other veterans and war widows/widowers in their area,” says Janna.
Please register!
Whilst they are free, there are limits to numbers for some events, and for others, we need details for catering, so it is essential to register using the relevant Registration Form (there is a different program and registration form for each location).
