Remembrance Day was marked by solemn commemorations across Vasey RSL Care’s Aged Care Homes and Ex-Service Accommodation.
The residents and staff at Bundoora held their commemorations while in lockdown. The piper, bugler and speakers were outside while residents listened and watched from indoors.
The Paxino Courtyard was the setting for Frankston South’s service with Commander Cameron Eastman OAM giving the address. He is pictured below with is father, Trevor.
Brighton’s service was held in the Day Centre with residents (shown below), Betty reading The Ode, Sandra leading The Lord’s Prayer and our first Vietnam Veteran, Peter, reading ‘Sound the Last Post’.
Flight Lieutenant Esh from the ADF gave a commemorative address for the residents and staff at Vasey RSL Care Brighton East, and chatted with residents including Pet, herself a veteran and one of the first WAAAF’s to join up.
Cheltenham residents organised a service at the community hall, attended by Captain Boxer from the 5/6 Victorian Regiment Pipes & Drums and the 5/6 Royal Victorian Regiment Charlie Company provided the Catafalque party for their service of remembrance.
