Personalised Number Plates

Kevin, a Vietnam Veteran from our Independent Living Units (ILUs), a career soldier who served two terms in Vietnam, wished for number plates with his army regiment number on them.

Seafood Dinner

A group of veterans and war widows from Vasey RSL Care Bundoora wished for a seafood dinner. Thanks to the generosity of Parade College Bundoora, their wish was granted.

Brothers in arms 

Reg from Vasey RSL Care Bundoora, and his brother Peter, who both served in WWII and whose father served in WWI, wished to take part in a service of remembrance, and lay wreaths on their parents’ graves. Thanks to the Springvale Botanical Cemetery and your donations, this wish was fulfilled, with many family members present.

Tigers at the MCG 

Betty from Vasey RSL Care Brighton has been a loyal Richmond supporter all her life and wished to see them play at the MCG. Thanks to some wonderful donors, she was seated in the members area and enjoyed a fabulous time with her granddaughter and great grandson.

Visit to the Shrine of Remembrance 

Mary from Vasey RSL Care Brighton East, whose father served in WWI, and whose husband and two brothers served in WWII – and one of her brothers did not return – wanted to honour her father and brothers with a visit the Galleries of Remembrance at the Shrine.

Lewis told us of the ‘Smiling Voices’at 13CABS, who make a great start to his day when he calls to book a cab. He wished to take them to lunch to thank them for the difference they make to his life.

WAAAF Reunion 

Peg from Vasey RSL Care Brighton East is an ex-Women’s Australian Auxiliary Air Force member (WAAAF) and she told us that there are only three others of the original 26 still around and she asked for a reunion with them. 

One was not well enough to come, but three came together with two ladies from the current RAAF for a lunch and sharing of memories.

Tiger Moth Flight 

Not everyone would be game for this, but Ken from Vasey RSL Care Bundoora, wished for a flight in a biplane to mark his 100th birthday.
