A morning tea was held recently to celebrate the re-opening of the Community Hall at our Croydon Independent Living Unit (ILU) Village.
After many years of under-use, the Community Hall had fallen into disrepair, was choked with unused furniture and was overdue for some love and attention.
The Property Services Team have carried out a major overhaul to create a more accessible and welcoming hall, with tables and chairs, comfortable lounges and a library area, as well as a TV/video player and a new fridge.
“Chris, our Contracts and Projects Co-Ordinator, has managed the overhaul and we have been able to turn the hall into a much more usable space,” said Steve Best, General Manager, Property Services.
This overhaul follows the Community Hall renovation at the Geelong ILUs, a major project requiring a substantial amount of structural work.
“It is important for residents to have a place where they can get together and I hope these halls will now be used by residents to enjoy a nice hot cup of tea on a cold winter’s night,” said Janna Voloshin, CEO.
“I’m very pleased to see the improvements.”
“It has made a big difference,” said Carmel Brownbill, who manages the ILUs. “I’d like to thank everyone involved in the makeover, especially the residents who are putting their personal touches on the hall”.
The Croydon village has some beautiful deciduous trees which are looking particularly lovely at the moment.
