Changes to Our Property Services

Recently, the decision was made to change the way we manage properties services requirements and to outsource this to a specialist property services management and maintenance organisation.

This decision was the result of a number of factors:

• Our ex-service accommodation needs are changing with new sites in regional locations and new initiatives in the metro region;
• There are increasing challenges in obtaining trade services which is resulting in delays in Ex-Service Accommodation refurbishments;
• The current employment situation in Victoria has impacted our organisation’s ability to recruit property services staff which is affecting our ability to maintain our usual turnaround times for maintenance tasks.

Where possible, we are reassigning staff to new roles, but where this is not possible, we are doing all we can to assist them to find a new role. 

The company that has been appointed to manage property services for us is called MDFM. They have over 40 years’ experience in commercial construction and maintenance work, and the resources and infrastructure to manage our properties and our compliance and safety requirements as these grow and change in support of our strategic plan.

We have over 100 sub-contractors who provide us with all types of services and they will continue to provide these services to our organisation, managed by MDFM. On-site services at the Vasey RSL Care ESA villages previously provided by our own will now be provided by staff employed by MDFM.

We are working to ensure a smooth transition across all areas of the business and we do not anticipate any adverse effects for our residents.
