Vasey RSL Care has its earliest origins in a time when Australia had earned the respect of the world for its contribution to securing democracy and freedom in World War I.
Our history, our culture and our people reflect the values that Australians hold dear: mateship, respect, equality and looking out for your friends and neighbours.
In 2004, Vasey RSL Care came into being, following the merger of Vasey Housing (Victoria) and RSL Care (Victoria). Vasey Housing was founded at the end of WWII to support the many young women widowed by the war. RSL Care Victoria was founded at the end of WWI to provide accommodation and support to veterans. Vasey RSL Care therefore has a strong tradition of supporting the ex-service community and around 80% of our community of residents and clients are either war widows or ex-service personnel, while 20% are from the general public.
Vasey RSL Care has developed as a respected organisation offering consistent high quality services and support to the local communities of which we form part.
We value our relationships with other ex-service organisations including RSL Victoria, RSL Sub-branches around our state, Legacy Victoria, Carry On Victoria, The Vietnam Veterans Association Australia (VIC), The Weary Dunlop Foundation and many other groups, and we consult with them to offer services for those people who have given their service so that Australians may live in peace.
Vasey RSL Care offers services primarily focusing on the needs of veterans and war widows:
Home Care (ex-service and general public)
Veterans Services (veterans and war widows and their partners/spouses)
Residential Aged Care (ex-service and general public)
Note: while priority is given to those with an ex-service background, Vasey RSL Care offers its services to the broader Australian community, honouring the RSL ethos of ‘accepting all people in need’.
Our Legacy continues to play an important role in our organisation and influences the way we work:
We are proud to Serve Those Who Served.
