| Welcome to Vasey RSL Care's website.
Although Vasey RSL Care is a new company, which came into being in mid-2004 when Vasey Housing Ltd and RSL Care (Victoria) merged, our roots go back many years.
With origins in the War Widows' Guild and the RSL (Victorian Branch) respectively, both long-standing organisations were well respected within their communities and as aged care providers.
Both Vasey and RSL Care grew from a service background and began operations through the provision of independent accommodation, moving into residential aged care in response to the changing needs of war widows and veterans. This ability to be responsive and adaptable also facilitated the further development of community programs.
Today, accommodation is offered as a priority to war widows, veterans and their dependants, with applications from the general public most welcome

| RSL Care Victoria
| RSL Care Victoria was the trading name of the RSL Veterans and Widows Trust Limited, which was formed early in 2000 when the two previous RSL Housing Trusts amalgamated and incorporated.
The first of the original Trusts, the RSL Widows' & Widowed Mothers' Trust Patriotic Fund was established in 1919 as the Sailors and Soldiers Widows and Widowed Mothers Trust.
The second trust was the RSL War Veterans' Homes Trust of Victoria, which was formed in 1937 with the object of providing accommodation for aged returned servicemen and dependants of ex-servicemen.
In 1956 the Trust and the Victorian Branch of the RSL, which was also operating accommodation projects, pooled their resources and formed the RSL War Veterans' Homes Trust of Victoria through legislation enacted by the Victorian Parliament.
| Vasey Housing Ltd
| Vasey Housing Ltd (Vasey) was started by the War Widows' Guild of Australia (Vic) Ltd. It was named after their founder, the late Mrs Jessie Mary Vasey, widow of General George Allan Vasey, one of Australia's finest and best-loved soldiers who was killed in 1945.
Mrs Vasey shared her husband's compassion and worked tirelessly to help the wives and widows of Australia's soldiers, women left at home often living in near poverty. She believed the best way to help these women was to build homes specifically for them. Gradually the Guild was able to purchase several houses and convert them into bed-sitter accommodation.
In 1952 a monster raffle was held and the proceeds of this enormous effort enabled the Guild to start its building program. Vasey was formally established and became a company in its own right in 1971. The organisation moved progressively into the provision of aged care, as the needs of war widows changed.
